What’s new in the CHR
Improvements
Creating billing templates
In Settings > Templates > Billing, you can now create and use a billing template to automatically populate information on a bill created outside of an encounter. This is useful to quickly create complex bills without having to start an encounter.
For more information, refer to Creating billing templates.
To apply a billing template, click Template from the New Insured Payment window. All the information, including rules and calculations, carry over from the billing template
📌Note: After applying the template, you can add more fee items and edit the fields on the bill.
For more information, refer to Using billing templates.
Creating bills via the Quick Entry Bill window
You can now create a bill without having to first open a patient chart or encounter. Using Quick Bill Entry, you can create a new private or insured bill quickly.
From the main menu, select Billing > Quick Bill Entry. In the Quick Bill Entry window, search for your patient and select Private Billing or Insured Billing and complete the bill as you normally would.
📌Note: Only users with Billing Dashboard and Quick Bill Entry permissions can create a bill using Quick Bill Entry.
For more information, refer to Quick billing from the billing dashboard.
Standardizing patient file naming conventions
In Settings > Patient File, users with the Patient settings permission can click New file name to create file names and associate the file name with patient file tags. When uploading patient files, you can search the File Name suggestions configured in Patient File settings and the corresponding tags are automatically selected for this file. This helps with efficiency and standardization.
For more information, refer to Configuring patient file names.
Modifying patient file tags
In Settings > Patient File, default file tags are now unlocked. You can now archive and restore the default file tags and the file tags you created. Hover over an active file tag and choose Archive.
For more information, refer to Configuring file tags.
New permission for room management
You can now control which users can add, edit, and delete rooms. To prevent users from accessing Settings > Room Management, disable the new Rooms Management settings permission.
For more information, refer to User permissions.
PEI: Location-based access
⚠️ Important: This feature must be enabled by TELUS Health so the changes may not be immediately visible in your system. If you want it enabled, please contact your clinic administrator.
Global settings permission for waiting lists
Only users with the Location segregation: Global settings permission can create, edit or delete global waiting lists (Settings > Referral > Waiting list).
📌Note: This permission will apply to other areas as well in a future release.
Location-specific patient list
When you click Patients from the main menu, you are no longer presented with the entire patient list. You must first filter the patient list; click the filter icon to select the criteria, including Primary Location. You can select and filter by only locations you have access to.
💡 Tip: Once you are viewing a filtered patient list, in the top right of the Patients window, click the gear icon to add Primary Location and Primary Practitioner as optional columns.
Fixes
Below is a list of bugs we have identified and fixed in this release. For more information, contact our TELUS Health support team.
When sending communications to patients, the CHR now uses pronouns based on the patient’s gender identity and preferred pronouns, instead of sex.
When using the Social History List variable in encounter or letter templates, complete information is now shown in the encounter or letter, even if secondary information is not entered.
When creating a new patient, the Primary Location stays the same after changing tabs in demographics.
When logging in, single sign-on (SSO) enabled users can now view clinic-wide messages.
Users can now print custom labels with the Dymo 450 printer.
When creating a referral letter, the Reason for Referral field now populates from the referral Letter Title.
