What’s new in the CHR

Improvements

Editing medications from an encounter

We recently added the ability to edit medications, which you can now also do from an encounter.

When you add a prescription from an encounter, choose this patient’s medications. In the Patient’s Medications window, on the far right of the prescription click the down arrow to expand the row and view the medication details and update the dosage information, quantity, refills, etc.

📌Note: You can only change the medication name if it was prescribed without a Drug Identification Number (DIN).

Any medication modifications appear in the Assessment and Plan section of the encounter.

For more information, refer to Editing medications.

Granular permissions for patient charts and encounters restrictions

You can now set user permissions to define who can restrict access to specific patient charts and encounters, and who can access the restricted patient charts and encounters. This improves data security and privacy for patients while providing more flexibility to create customized roles and access levels for users. Previously, users with the Patient chart/Encounter Access restrictions permission could restrict both an encounter and an entire patient chart.

The Patient chart/Encounter Access restrictions permission is now divided into five specific permissions providing more options and control over who can restrict access and who can force access to a restricted chart or encounter. The new permissions you can set are:

  1. Force access on a Patient Chart

  2. Force access on an Encounter

  3. Restrict access to a Patient Chart

  4. Restrict access to an Encounter

  5. Break glass on a Patient Chart (available only for clinics using role-based access control)

If you do not have permission to restrict access to a patient chart or encounter, the User access tab in the patient chart and the Access restrictions option in an encounter are now greyed out so you know the functionality is available, but you do not have the permission.

Also, when you attempt to access a patient chart or encounter without the appropriate permissions, the permission denied message now provides specific information to give a clear indication on the role or access permission you are missing.

The Patient chart/Encounter Access restrictions is now named Delete patient data entries to represent the new functionality. So that no functionality is lost, users with the Patient chart/Encounter Access restrictions permission will automatically have the new permissions selected.

For more information, refer to User permissions.

Alberta: CPAR enhanced mass action notifications

When you perform a mass action on a panel in Settings > CII/CPAR > Mass Actions, you now see the Patient Data Status and Confirmation Date in the Panel Mass Action Results message in your inbox. For more information, refer to Performing bulk actions for a panel.

Alberta: Workers’ Compensation Board file upload enhancements

To make it easier to identify the file type required to upload, in the Billing dashboard > AB WCB > File Upload tab, you now see two upload buttons to process your files.

  1. Click Upload Batch Return File to upload your batch return file in .txt format.

  2. Click Upload Remittance File to upload your remittance file in .xml format.

📌Note: If you choose the incorrect file type, you receive a warning message, and the file does not upload.

To optimize your file upload history, you can now archive and remove any failed notifications from the list. To archive a file, click Archive. To show or hide archived files, slide the toggle on or off.

⚠️ Important: You can not restore archived files.

Alberta: Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) C570 form enhancements

You can now add, remove, or make corrections to an Alberta WCB insured payment fee code using the C570 Medical Invoice Correction form.

In an Alberta WCB insured payment, select the Medical Invoice Correction - C570 form type, choose the visit report for the code needing updates, and then add or correct fee items by selecting Addition or Correction.

To remove a fee item, add the WCBREM fee code to the insured payment window.

With this enhancement, if the C570 form was in Ready status and change to a fee item in the Insured Billing window, the form status automatically changes to Draft status to alert you to edit the form as well.

Alberta: Shadow billing fee items marked as paid

To streamline the shadow billing process using your Alternative Relationship Plan (ARP) Business Arrangement (BA) number for services, submitted claims assessed by Alberta Health Services (AHS) without refusal or explanation codes can now update the insured bill status to Paid in the CHR. With this configuration enabled, you no longer need to manually go through each bill to find refusal or explanation codes saving you time and effort.

To configure your account for this functionality, contact us through the in-app support bubble (refer to Contact us).

PEI: Fee code update

We added new fee codes and updated others effective February 21, 2024.

  • You can now bill fee codes 2504 and 2587 under the PSYCHIATRY specialty, and the role of Delegated Functions pays 75% is now available.

Fixes

Below is a list of bugs we have identified and fixed in this release. For more information, contact our TELUS Health support team.

  • When a patient joins a virtual visit from CHR Connect, the provider can now successfully connect to the virtual visit.

  • When you fax a patient file and you select Set as patient’s preferred pharmacy, the primary identification on the patient chart no longer duplicates, the patient email is not removed and the notification type remains the same.

  • When you print a letter or form from the PDF viewer, the letters and forms once again appear in the Patient Outbox.

  • When you open a reviewed lab that does not have updates, the Mark Reviewed button is disabled as expected.

  • In the Lab report preview window for manual lab entry, the same font appears in the Date Collected and Time Collected fields. When the preview window is minimized, the fields align in a single line.

  • In the Lab report preview window for manual lab entry, when the date and time reported or requested fields are left blank in Additional fields, nothing appears in the corresponding fields of the saved manual lab report.

  • When you successfully send a prescription via PrescribeIT, a message appears that it was successfully sent, and the Send button is greyed out. When you hover over the Send button a tooltip appears confirming the prescription is sent.
