Description

Boost billing efficiency with templates

If you often find yourself generating the same bill for multiple patients, creating and using billing templates in your workflow can be a game-changer. Billing templates speed up your billing process, particularly for complex or repetitive billing tasks.

When you create a template (Settings > Templates > Billing > Add Template), and you have multiple providers in your clinic, leave the Billing Practitioner field empty. Then, when you apply the template, all other information auto-populates the bill and you can add or update details as needed, providing ultimate flexibility.

For more information, refer to Using billing templates.

Monitoring appointment changes

If you work in a clinic where multiple people manage schedules, or if you use eBooking, you may need to review the booking details of an appointment. You might want to know who originally booked it and when, or who checked the patient in, for example.

The history of an appointment allows you to easily see all these details and more. From the Appointments section of the patient's chart, click the clock icon beside the appointment you want to review.

Printing a patient's medical information

If a patient asks for a list of their current medications, or other medical information such as a list of their appointments, you can easily print it from the Summary view.

To print a patient’s active medications, collapse all sections but Active medications and click Print at the bottom of the window. Don’t see all the patient’s medications? Make sure to display all records in this section.

Ever been locked out?

Being prepared will save you time in the event that you are locked out of your CHR account.

If you enter the wrong password or username 5 times (or more, depending on your clinic configuration), your account is locked. If that happens, you have two options:

  1. Wait until it automatically unlocks; the default lockout time is 1 hour.

  2. Contact your clinic administrator to unlock your account. Knowing who has this permission beforehand will allow you to quickly get back to work.

Automating Qnaire delivery

Are things slowing down for you and your clinic over the holiday season? Maximize this downtime by optimizing your Qnaire processes.

Did you know you can automatically send Qnaires to your patients? For example, you can set them up to send on a recurring schedule or link them to an appointment or presenting issue to send pre- or post-visit. You can also configure follow-up Qnaires to send at a specific time after an encounter is signed.

Learning resources for new users

Welcoming a new team member to your clinic? Help them gain a solid foundation to use the CHR effectively, and ensure a smooth transition, with these learning resources:

Boost your productivity with snoozed tasks

Much like a to-do list, you can use the snooze function to help you remember tasks you need to do when you need to do them. For example, follow up to ensure you have received paperwork from a patient or to check that critical test results have arrived.

Send yourself a snoozed message from the Inbox or a patient's chart. Then, at the date and time you choose, it automatically shows up as a new message to remind you it’s time to action it.

Learn how you can better manage tasks by snoozing inbox items.

Find patients that have (or don’t have) specific status tags

You can filter the patient list by the status tags previously added to a patient’s record.

From the patient list, click the filter icon in the top-right corner. Choose patient status tags to include or exclude, then click Filter.

Now you can browse patients that match your filter criteria.

To learn more, refer to Filtering the patient list.

Finding an archived patient chart

If you cannot find a patient’s chart, quickly search to see if it has been archived.

In the patient search window, select Archived to show archived patients that match your search criteria.

Adding information to a cover page

Click the feather icon next to the cover page selected in your PDF settings before you print or fax a document, such as a letter or a referral. From there, you can add details, and type comments in the fields included in the cover page template.

Watch our new tutorial video on Using a fax cover page to learn more.

Dig into your data

Analytics dashboards pull data from your CHR into easy to interpret reports. Each report can be refined, sorted, and exported giving you the exact data you need.

To learn more about this invaluable feature, check out this video collection.

Perfect your patient header with interactive data

The patient data types you see in the header are specific to you.

So add the vitals, lab results, scores, enrollment status, and other patient data you always want to check or click and update faster.

To start customizing, select the gear icon in the patient data header.

For steps to add or edit the header, refer to Customizing the patient data header.

Accessing the CHR help centre

Find the support you need using the CHR help centre!

You can access valuable learning resources such as training videos, release notes, webinar recordings, step-by-step help guides, and more.

From your CHR chat bubble, click Search articles… to get started!

For more details, refer to Getting help.

Managing frequent injections

Flu season is here. You can use clinic-wide templates to quickly and consistently record patient immunizations. In addition to consistent data entry, injection templates save time by auto-populating data instead of manually entering dose, site, route, etc. For more information, see Managing clinic-wide frequent injections.

Using the patient summary view

Want to see all the important information on a patient at a glance? The summary is the best way to navigate patient charts and helps you complete your encounters more efficiently. It remains visible when you are within an encounter, allowing you to perform all required actions from a single screen. To open the summary, click the summary icon in the top-right corner of a patient chart.

For more information, see Navigating the patient summary.

Changing a patient’s preferred notification method

Appointment notifications, messages and Qnaires are sent to the patient's preferred notification method but do you ever wonder what that is? You can verify or change a patient's preferred notification method (email, SMS, both or none) by clicking Update Information within the dashboard view of the patient's chart. For more information, see Setting a patient's preferred notification method.

Quickly booking time off

Booking time off through the schedule can be useful for meetings or afternoons off, or if you need to block time to do admin work. This time slot becomes unavailable for online booking. Go to your schedule and click +Add > Off Time in the top-right corner. For detailed instructions, see Adding and removing time off in the schedule.

Filtering your inbox

Does your inbox load slowly? Want to see only the inbox items that apply to you? You can easily filter your inbox to focus on messages and items that are important to you. Filtering an inbox also helps it load faster.

For more information, see Filtering your inbox.

Exporting and printing patient charts

If you ever need to send a patient’s chart to their new clinic or insurance company, you can easily export it. You can decide to include all or only some information of the patient chart. The PDF document can then be downloaded, printed, emailed or faxed. For more information, see Printing and exporting patient charts.

Managing reminders for booked appointments

Are there times when you want to quickly add, remove or customise a reminder for a patient’s existing appointment ? Or simply add an additional Qnaire to the appointment?

From the schedule, select the patient’s appointment and click the Reminders tab:

  • To edit or remove a reminder, select the specific reminder.

  • To add another reminder (with or without a Qnaire), click + Add.

Scheduling reminder tasks using messages

You can set a recall task for yourself or your admin to follow up with a patient on a future date.

Create an internal message from the patient chart, then snooze the message until the date you want to follow up. Click the clock icon within the message and choose the Snooze Until date. The message will appear in the inbox on that date.

Have a look at the complete workflow: Snoozing your inbox items.

Avoid adding duplicate patient charts

(PEI only)

You can quickly search for and add patients to the CHR from the Client Registry, saving you time and keeping the CHR free of unnecessary clutter. Always select the Registry checkbox when searching for patients, before manually creating a new patient chart. For more information, see Adding a patient from the Client Registry to the CHR.

Opening the CHR in multiple windows

Ever wish you could easily keep an eye on your schedule while navigating the CHR, without having to go back and forth? Simply open it in a separate window or tab. In the main menu, right-click the schedule icon (or control+click on Mac) and select Open link in new tab or Open link in new window.

Troubleshooting virtual visits

One of the benefits of the CHR is our integrated virtual visits. To ensure that each visit runs smoothly, be prepared to troubleshoot with your patients when required. See our virtual visit tips to learn the most common reasons why they fail and how to quickly get visits started with your patients.
